Has the peak hour gone? If so, then how much it will cause the final outcome of Monpura?
Normally we see that the release of a movie is scheduled after two months of the release of the music album. It helps in many ways. It gives the audio album enough time to show its full potential before release of the movie. But most importantly, it creates a great interest among people about the movie. That’s why music plays such a vital role in sub continental movie. 'Super hit' or even 'semi-hit' music album also promises a substantial economic success for the movie.
But, what about Monpura? A movie with super hit music album, immense interest among people, everyone is asking where they can find the movie and the bottom line is, the movie will fail to prove the potential it promised. It was the second half of October when the whole nation was humming the songs of Monpura. It couldn't have a better time to release the movie. And there was not a single announcement about the release of the movie.
Mr. Gias Uddin Selim, we don’t know whether it’s you or your production house, who is responsible for this. But we just feel that this irresponsible attitude is going to hurt the final outcome of your long dreamed movie in a great way. Perhaps, somehow, we the mass people had started to dream of a successful commercial Bangla film that will make a huge impact on Bangla movie making. But like many other dreams, this one may also remain as a dream to be realized.

About monpura.com
At last, Monpura's official website has launched, recently. After some three months of the release of music its official website has finally found its place on internet. The site has got a professional look. But it lacks in content. Actually there is yet to put any content. The whole site is 'Under Construction'.
We have stated before that there are some serious problems in the distribution policy of Monpura. We are yet to know the actual date of release of the movie. The official website www.monpura.com was completely unavailable over last three months. And now when it is there on the web, there is almost no content on the site. Every link finds its way to 'under construction' page. Perhaps, the makers of monpura have taken the marketing of the movie too lightly.
It seems as if the makers of Monpura have taken it for granted that people will find this movie for their own interest. Even the biggest movies of Hollywood need some severe campaign to reach to people. But the present status of Monpura is very similar to an orphan who might have many potentials but just don’t have anybody to take care of.

Monpura- Coming Soon...
The long waited movie Monpura is going to be released after National Election 2008. The release of the movie was postponed a number of times. The movie lovers who were waiting for the debut film of Gias Uddin Selim, got deceived a few times whether the movie was released or not. But this time the director has confirmed that Monpura will be released after National Election.
It must be said that the distribution policy of Monpura has simply failed to meet the hype which was created by its wonderful songs. There was no certain announcement about the release of the movie. Many people thought that it was another ‘Telefilm’ or ‘Natok’ that has already aired without much attention from the crowed. So the distribution policy of Monpura was just not suitable for a movie with so much promise.
But this time it seems to be the right decision. As there were some 9 movies in queue for eid-ul-azha, so it would not have a right decision to participate in the rat race when it is your debut film. And now the country is in the highway of national election. So the release of Monpura will come after the national election. But in order to create some eagerness among the viewers, the particular date of release should be announced right now.

After the huge audio success of Monpura, the singers behind the success have come up with another folk album. All the singers of Monpura- krishnokoli islam,Chandona Mojumder, Fazlur rahman babu are present in the album. They are well supported by other singers. The album has released on this eid-ul-azha. The name of this album is 'Matir Sure'. It has been released on the banner of ‘Fahim Music’.

A movie 'Monpura' is been made. It’s made by gias uddin selim and pictured by Kamrul hasan khoshru. The making and picturization created wonder in every moment during the show. People usually get speechless when he found himself in front of a great beauty. And now I’m in a similar condition. But how long he can keep speechless? Very soon words come in an even greater flow. And there are so many modern tools like phone, SMS, email to express the emotion. But still I feel that, nothing can be better than letter to express the emotion.
Dear Giasuddin Selim,
Say, I don’t know you. Also don’t know much about you. Say, I have seen Monpura on a sudden. What my reaction would be?
From a long since, you have made your own brand of direction and script writing in small screen. Now-a-days, anybody can be TV play director if he wishes. But you belong to the elite minority who has got the will as well as ability. You are very few in number, but still exist and that’s why still we can talk about the standard of TV play. I only know you that much.
But there are so many viewers in this country who know you better than I do. And all these thinking are coming after watching Monpura. You have shown your magic in small screen. But how much you will be able to do in big screen, that was in question. There might not have been any question if I had known you better.
Millions of applause for you. There was jaw dropping arrangement in Monpura. Wondered and speechless-I was both. Those who have seen Monpura or even heard the songs of Monpura- had the same experience. People, who have left Bangla cinema and cinema hall both, might get an opportunity to get their way back to cinema hall due to Monpura. Congratulations selim, for not thinking of 'kith and kin' during selecting performer. Congratulations for making the movie for mass not for your own aspirations.
Monpura has made me so optimistic. Though there are hundreds of obstacles, still people like you, are trying to make movies the way it should be- irrespective of what the trend is going on the market.
Selim, its not only ‘feeling good’ after watching a movie. So many things have come in my mind after watching the movie. Here, how many people think of film? So when a filmmaker dreams, there are so many obstacles to face to bring the dream to reality. He has to bear all the worries. He has to collect the money even taking the risk of getting bankrupt. But even after that, do we respect the person behind all these hard work? After doing all these, the film maker has to urge in this fashion 'Please, come to watch my movie. I’m begging of you.'
Selim, you must have dreamt of Monpura for a long time. After dreaming it comes to the realization. The combination of your dream and picturization of Kamrul hasan khoshru is just not all about 'feeling good' but feeling envious of you. And when 'feeling good' touches that limit, is there any way of not being envious? Monpura has achieved that respect that instead of addressing 'Tumi'(‘you'- to address someone intimate in Bengali), in this letter I addressed you 'Apni'(also 'you'- to address someone honored in Bengali). People normally come to 'tumi' from 'Apni'. Then this is an exception, breaking the trend.
Monpura is a heart breaking movie that truly touches the heart. May Allah give you the courage, strength and ability to make 10 more movies.

Aranyak Natyadal and 'Monpura'
Is it coincidental that all the three lead male actors of 'Monpura' have come from 'Aranyak Natyadal'? Perhaps not. Beside being from 'Aranyak Natyadal', they posses another similarity. All of the three-Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu and Mamunur Rashid are very powerful actors.
Chanchal chowdhury had the fascination for acting since his childhood. But his dream came true in 1996 when he joined 'Aranyak Natyadal'. He showed his brilliant performance in plays like Prakritojoner Kotha, Joyjoyonti, Ora Kodom Ali, Mayur Singhason, Songkranti, Rarang and Che-er Cycle. He resonates the slogan of 'Aranyak Natyadal'-'Theatre is not merely an entertainment tool but an active agent for social change'.

Thrilling victory of ICL BANGLADESH xi against INDIA xi
ICL Bangladesh xi, previously known as 'Dhaka warriors' have won a thriller against ICL india xi.This was one of the most competitive match in ICL season2.
In the last over ICL Bangladesh needed 11 runs which was scored by sharier nafis in just 3 balls. He scored 4 runs in the very first ball in courtesy of miss field. but in the very next ball he simply smashed the ball over long off for 6 runs. so ICL bangladesh needed only one run for last 4 balls. and Sharier Nafis just finished things off in the very next ball.
After Alok Kapali , Sharier nafis won a match for ICL Bangladesh single handedly. It seems as if ICL bangladesh is now grooming as a real side. now there are match winners and players who can support them.

“Love stories will never lose their appeal, hence for my debut film I wanted to depict one.”- explained Gias uddin Selim.

But the story? there is a story of love in every humans' life but are the stories same? definitely not. so you can surely find a new story out of a 'common' topic. if you consider Giash uddin selim's previous work as a TV play director, then it wont be a bad idea to spend some two and half hours for Monpura.

‘Jao Pakhi Balo Tare’
Chandona Mojumder, a singer of wonderful voice quality and perfect emotion, has got the attention with 'Jao Pakhi Balo Tare'- a song from the movie Monpura. The song is composed by Krishnokoli islam. As she sang that song in a 'Adda' in IFA, one of her friends, Gias Uddin Selim( director of Monpura) picked that song for Monpura.
But Chandona performed that song even without knowing its destination. She just sang it like many other songs she did. "Just after two times, the song was ok'd. If I had knew that the song will be there in a movie like 'Monpura' I might have tried to do better"- said Chandona with her artistic desire for perfection. And we all know that her 'Not so Good' performance in 'Jao pakhi' was good enough to create a bizarre across the nation. A nation addicted to Hindi songs , is now looking for songs of its own.

'I want to perform in one movie every year'-Chanchal Chowdhury
Chanchal Chowdhury, the protagonist of Monpura has said that he wants to perform in one movie every year. The busy actor is having the busiest time due to the eve of coming Eid-ul-azha. A number of TV plays of this popular actor are going on air. In a recent interview he talked about his Upcoming TV plays,Movie and future plan.
'Now there are some 6 TV plays going on air'-said Chanchal Chowdhury. who is also working on TV plays directed by popular director Salah uddin lavlu(Vober haat). but Chanchal is more busy due to the upcoming eid. 'There are some 12 TV plays I’m working on for the Eid-ul-Azha'- Chanchal said. He often found in charecters of simple village people. He believes that the life of village is simple and it expresses what life actually is. And that’s why he is more comfortable in such charecters.
He is also getting a number of proposal of TV commercial. 'But the products, banner and scripts are not up to the mark'-Chanchal said. so you may not find Chanchal shortly in TV commercial. Arnob- The music director of 'Monpura'
Shayan chowdhury Arnob(also known as Ornob) needs no introduction to the music lovers of this soil. He has achieved enormous popularity in recent years with his songs( Most of which are of his own composition) among the people of all age, specially youngsters. Youngsters are most often blamed for not listening to the music with low beats or less instruments. But in recent time there has been a revolution in Bangla songs specially in band songs. People are getting more adopted with Bangla songs with less instruments and more melody(Mousumi Bhoumic, Krishnokoli). And Arnob is a successful singer (and composer) of this genre.
Arnob is the nephew of another very prominent singer of Bangla songs- Tapon Chowdhury. But Arnob needs not that introduction to introduce himself, for sure. he has already made his own brand. There have been much talk about Bangla band songs and the addiction of youngsters to it. Very often band songs were labeled with 'Rough and Tough' musicians who had alleged relation with drug. There were efforts to prove drug as a complementary(!) element of music.
After that there is been a silent revolution in Bangla band songs. Tahsan, Arnob, Habib- all the singers of new generation have made a new brand of Bangla band songs. Arnob is the nephew of another very prominent singer of Bangla songs- Tapon Chowdhury. But Arnob needs not that introduction to introduce himself, for sure. he has already made his own brand. There have been much talk about Bangla band songs and the addiction of youngsters to it. Very often band songs were labeled with 'Rough and Tough' musicians who had alleged relation with drug. There were efforts to prove drug as a complementary(!) element of music.
After that there is been a silent revolution in Bangla band songs. Tahsan, Arnob, Habib- all the singers of new generation have made a new brand of Bangla band songs. Release of Monpura- Delayed again?
The release of Monpura seems to be postponed once again. The long waited movie was expected to get release at the end of this year. But now it seems not to be the case. There is no sign of release or promotional from the producer 'Mashranga Production'.
The shooting of Monpura started on June 2007 and finished successfully by February, 2008. Then it was expected to get release on April, 2008. But for some reason it was not released then. The first exhibition of this movie was held on august,2008- which was only for invited guests. so the making and post production tasks are already finished. then it was very expected to get release on Eid-ul-Fitr. Many people was actually looking for the theaters where they can see the movie. But unfortunately, wasn't able to find that.
After that, it was almost certain that the movie will be released on or before Eid-ul-Azha. But there is no sign of release of Monpura before Eid-Ul-Azha and industry insiders said that there are some 9 movies in queue for release on Eid-ul-Azha and Monpura in not on that list.
Though Monpura has made an unbelievable hype before release but its distribution was always been questionable. Even the official website of Monpura- www.monpura.com was not maintained the way it should have been. It is been unavailable for around 2 months( till 13th November, 2008). The distribution policy of 'Monpura' reminds us the fact that- 'its more difficult to meet the hype rather that creating it'. If Monpura fail to keep the promise that it has shown through its wonderful songs and attractive trailers then it would be really unfortunate for Bangla movie.

Chanchal-Babu audio duet album
After the huge audio success of Monpura, chanchal chowdhury and Fazlur Rahman Babu have decided to work on an audio album. Both of the actors have come from theater(Aranyak Natyadal) and have the experience of singing on stage as a part of the stage show. For the first time, they have sung for a movie in Monpura and it simply created wonder. 'Nithua Pathare' sung by Fazlur rahman babu has become the brand for Monpura. The same song (Nithua Pathare) which was sung by Krishnokoli and chanchal chowdhury in the same film has also made its mark. And the success of their respective songs inspired them for working on their debut album.
The audio duet of chanchal and Babu is going to be on the basis of folk songs. The essence of Monpura Songs might be found on the new album of Chanchal and Babu. But as the both actors are busy with their TV play acting, so it might take a while to release their debut album. " We are really busy with our TV plays due to the eve of coming eid. so hopefully we will be able to work on our duet after the eid-ul-azha"- said chanchal chowdhury. 'Change We Need'?
will Monpura bring the 'Change We Need'? will it bring the middle class to cinema hall once again?
Bangla cinema has experienced its golden era in 60's and 70's when we had directors like Johir Raihan, Khan Ata and others who really made movies that represent us the most. and in west Bengal, that was also the greatest time in film industry. Satyajit roy, Uttam Kumar, Suchitra sen, Shoumitra chaterjee, Chabi biswas, Robi Ghosh- all the perfect artist of this media, spell bounded the audience for decades. That was the period when the songs of bangla movie was enormously popular. Hemanta Mukhapadhya was the ultimate choice for any film, casting Uttam kumar. the combination of this two simply guaranteed success.
But as it is said, ‘Those Days are Gone'-is the right phrase for bangla cinema. now the middle class(Who are the majority) is hardly aware of bangla movie. the condition is almost the same in Bangladesh and west bengal.
After a long time a bangla movie has made the hype before release that you can expect from a blockbuster hit movie. if Monpura can keep the promise that it has shown through its trailer and songs, then it just might bring a revolution in this sector. There have been some significant works in this arena for last ten years. Morshedul Islam( Chaka), Tareq Masud( Matir Moyna), Humayun Ahmed( Srabon Megher Dine), Abu sayed( KirtonKhola) and other talented directors have made some significant contribution in bangla movie. But we are yet to see the large scale commercial success from a Bangla movie of this genre. And if Monpura can fill that gap then it just might invoke the much needed change that we are looking for. it will creat huge interest among the audience on bangla movie. Investors will feel safe to invest their money on good Bangla Movie. And the upcoming generation in film industry will find the right situation to produce some real good movie, that will truly represent our culture and turn bangla movie into a good form of entertainment.

Momotaj- Folk Queen of Bengal
Momotaj, the Folk queen of Bengal, has once again got the spotlight on her with the song 'Age Jodi Jantam Re Bondhu' of the movie 'Monpura'. The song is also a part of the reason of the huge audio success of Monpura.
Momotaj, the most popular singer of Bangla folk song, started her career in 1992 with the audio album 'Momotaj Bicched super'. Gradually, she has become the most popular singer of her genre. the number of her released album is unbelievable- 700!
it only shows how popular she is among the mass. she is definitely heading towards Guinness book record of highest album released by a singer.
Momotaj, Daughter of Madhu Boyati, took her earlier lesson to Matal Razzak Dewan- 'Guru'-as she recons. in her early days she had to face a lots of difficulties. Even after the success of her first album she signed for second album only for Tk 2000 and a condition of repay that money if the album fail to succeed.
In her long career, she has achieved a huge success in all aspects. she has a huge popularity in home and abroad. Farhana said ‘No’ to TV play directors
New comer actress Farhana mili, who played the female lead role ‘Pori’ in ‘Monpura’ has restrained herself from acting in TV play. The young, talented actress started her career in showbiz with modeling and acting in TV play. But as ‘Monpura’ is the biggest venture of her short career and also seems to be the biggest movie of the year,so she has said ‘No’ to TV play directors for the promotional cause of the movie. It seems to be the right decision as the movie is expected to get release on November,2008.
‘Monpura’ is the most important venture for Farhana Mili in her short career. Perhaps it will set the tone for her rest of the career. A huge success( which is very much expected) will make Farhana a ‘Film Star’. Even the average success of ‘Monpura’ will make her the actress of choice for many movie directors. But only a ‘Flop’ will clear the way of her exit from film industry. Only then she has to get back to TV play( or megaaaaa serials) on a more regular interval.
But the present condition definitely suggest that farhana mili has come to stay. She has the look, ability to perform and lot of years in front of her ( as she is in 20’s now).

Monpura- Music with magic
Is it anything short of a revolution, what the songs of Monpura have created? Has it happened in near past that people are humming the songs of a ‘bangla cinema’ even before release?
The songs of Monpura has come at a time when the young generation is used to with latest Hindi songs and movies. The youngsters are relentless to hear Hindi movie songs which awfully lack depth. And sometimes the lyrics of some of those songs are obscene. The message of most of those ‘popular’ Hindi songs is simple(like- “come, make love”). And what about present ‘bangla cinema’ songs? Well, it’s the complete copy of those ‘popular’ Hindi songs with less ability.
And at that point of time ‘Monpura’ has come to face the music. It was not all about grabbing the market but more about creating it. The present success of Monpura has revealed that it has won the battle in every possible direction. It has overcome the huge impact of Hindi movie songs and also did that in style. It completely depended on the resources that Bangladesh has. The lyrics and music of all the songs of Monpura, represents the real bangladesh. And that’s why, after a long time the country has gone crazy with its own music. After a long time the nation has looked back where its root is.
